Enjoying the vibe at Newport Food Festival!
Sampling Local Produce at Newport Food Festival
On Saturday, I took a trip to the Newport Food Festival, which returned for it’s 3rd year onto the high streets of Newport City Centre. I have to say, it was great to see Newport so alive with the hustle and bustle of street traders selling their local produce and so many shoppers checking out the great samples on offer. In recent years there have been many bad news stories about the decline of local independent retails still trading on the high street of Newport, but yesterday was quite refreshing to see that there is still very much a call for ‘buy local’ amongst the mainstream national franchises.
Many businesses that were trading at the festival rely heavily on local custom to purchase their produce. One of our clients, Bakestone Bakery were one of the businesses that had a stall at the festival, and it was a pleasure to see crowds (3 rows deep at times) trying to get a sample of their gluten and dairy free bread, Welshcakes and muffins that were on sale.
Another of our clients, Tudor Brewery, had a similar amount of succcess with their stall. (Beer is always a favourite for sampling at these kind of foodie festivals it seems!)
